Red Flag: When the red flag is used it means that you are to stop immediately in the safest way possible.
Should any vehicle move whilst the red flag is shown it is down to the discretion of the Have A Go Racing team to implement any disciplinary action, this will range from laps being docked to extreme circumstances of being asked to leave the track.
The three hour Have A Go Racing Tape and Tie Wrap Endurance Race is a test of both man or woman and machine. This is open to anyone with or with out racing experience provided you are above the age of eighteen by the 1st May 2021.
It will be a three-hour race involving three lots of forty minutes track time and two lots of twenty-minute break time for change of driver refill of fuel and running repairs. Lap scoring will be done via the driver’s smart device all drivers will complete two rolling laps to ensure this is working.
The Have A Go Racing Team would expect the majority of repairs to be Tape and Tie wrapped however if you think you can do a gear box change in twenty minutes by all means do.
Should a car break down during the races track time all vehicles will be stopped (red flag) along with time, the broken down vehicle will be removed from the track and both race and time will be restarted from the point of the stoppage, meaning no loss of time on the track.
A smart device is needed, although smart watches are prohibited, competitors will be responsible for their own lap scoring, the Track Addict app needs to be downloaded onto your smart device, this is available on the App Store and Google Play. The QR code is available below, one you have downloaded the app, open and select track, click 'ADD NEW TRACK' then import QR code (you will need to give permission for the App to use camera). This will then give you the RAF Marham Track, don't be confused by this it is still Swaffham Raceway that the event is being held. Should you have any problems with downloading the app prior to the event, our technical team are here to help you.
As the use of a smart device is essential Have A Go Racing recommends having an in car charger from the 12V charging port, should the charging port not be working a ‘home-made’ option can be used by running two wires from the battery into the car to form a ‘charging port’.
All vehicles need to have their smart device safely secured within the vehicle with tape or a cradle, cradles that attach to the vents are permitted but not recommended, magnetic cradles are NOT permitted.
It is highly recommended that teams bring power banks (not forgetting charging leads) to ensure the device your team is using does not run out of battery. Its also recommended that you have sufficient data usage on your phone to use the app effectively.
This is a non-contact race, it is a test of skill and endurance, anyone deemed to be using destruction derby tactics will force the race to stop (red flag) and be removed from the track asked to load up and not return to the track with a vehicle for the duration of the event, however are welcome to stay and watch.
The Have A Go Racing Team do accept that there will be rubbing, bumpers touching and wing mirrors clashing but the aim is rack up the laps and take home a cash prize.
The marshals (located on the outside of the track) and central control officer(s) (located on the central green) will use flags to ensure the safety of competitors:
